RITES ARE HELD FOR MRS. LIGNUM TINSLEY

Final rites for Mrs. Lignum V. Tinsley, 72, of 1337 Lindsay St., were held at 2 p.m. today in the First Baptist Church.  Dr. Harry Roark officiated, followed by interment in Collinsville Cemetery, directed by Geo. J. Carroll & Son.  Nephews served as bearers.
Mrs. Tinsley died Tuesday afternoon in Gainesville Memorial Hospital after a long illness.  She was a longtime Gainesville resident and a member of the First Baptist Church.
Survivors are her husband, Paul Tinsley; two daughters, Mrs. Claude Jones of Vernon and Mrs. James Parker of Garland; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; five sisters, Mmes. Ethel Baker of Wilson, Okla., Leota Ballinger of Sulphur, Okla., Fern Thomas of Beaver, Pa., Julia Barre of Plano and Darlene Nall of Pilot Point; four brothers, Lewis Pilcher of Gainesville, D.O. Pilcher of Thackerville, Luther Pilcher of Collinsville and Ralph Pilcher of Oklahoma City.

Garland - Graveside services for Pauline Tinsley Parker, 78, of Garland, were held Wednesday morning at the Collinsville Cemetery with Rev. Noble Pilcher, retired Methodist minister, officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of the Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home of Gainesville.
Mrs. Parker died July 8, 2001, in Garland.
She was born November 5, 1922, in Grayson County, daughter of J. Paul and Lignum Vitae Tinsley. On February 14, 1951, she married James L. Parker. She graduated from Gainesville High School in 1941 and attended Gainesville Junior College. She worked as a telephone operator for Southwestern Bell in Gainesville and Dallas before her marriage. She was past president of the Garland chapter of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas. She was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the United Daughters of the Confederacy and the Daughters of the American Colonists. She enjoyed poetry, history and genealogy. She won various awards for her poetry and was a member of the Garland Poetry Society and the Texas State Poetry Society.
Survivors include her husband, James L. Parker of Garland; daughter, Martha Elizabeth Parker of Garland; sons, James L. "Jamie" Parker, Jr. of Austin, Paul M. Parker of Dallas, and Robertson L. "Robby" Parker of Garland; sister, Sylvia Lee Jones of Vernon, and eight nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
The family will be at the Williams Funeral Home in Garland from 6 to 8 tonight and at the Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home from 7 to 8 p.m. today. - - - - Daily Register (Gainesville), Tuesday, July 10, 2001
