Funeral servies for Kenneth Richard "BEAR" Allen, 70, of Denton, Texas will be held Saturday, March 26, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Meador Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Buddy Owens of Gateway Baptist Church officiating.  Interment will follow at Collinsville Cemetery.  He passed away Tuesday, March 22nd at his home in Denton, Texas with his family by his side.  
He was born to Homer S. and Lois (Huff) Allen on June 4, 1945 in Sherman, Texas.  He married Barbara Pilcher on June 27, 1970.  He worked for 30 years for the Texas Animal Health Commission and retired in 1966 as Livestock Inspector Supervisor IV.  During the time he worked, he traveled and worked in many counties of the state.  He was a member of Cooper Creek Baptist Church of Denton.  He was a strong advocate of the mentally disabled serving on the ARC of Denton County Board of Directors in various positions, as well as the State Board of Directors of the ARC of Texas.  He was very active in the HOA serving on the board in various positions.  He was involved in the Whitesboro Riding Club in the early '70s before moving to Denton in 1973.
Kenneth was a loving husband, father and grandpa.  He was very proud of his family and loved them very much.
Pallbearers will be Ricky Reedy, Larry McCorkle, Dr. Bill Shares, Ray Lynn Stuckey, Bobby Hargesheimer, Carroll Hedges, Benny McKee, Steve Arel, Donald Glenn, J.C. Ivins, Larry Preather, Joe Dunn and Todd Kenne.  Honrary pallbearers will be Dr. Gene Huff, Kent Harville, and Bo Huff.  
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Allen of Denton; son Zachary Allen and wife, Cassie, of Denton and son Toby Allen of Denton; daughter, Lacey Allen of Little Elm and fianceee, Caleb Bunton; granddaughter Kylie Allen and grandson Nolan Allen; and Uncle and Aunt Gene and Gwen Huff of Whitesboro; and sister-in-law, Brenda McKee and nephew Benny McKee of Collinsville; and several cousins.  He is also survived by his special furry pal of 16 years, Rocky, and granddog, Abby.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Homer and Lois Allen and his brother, Jerry Allen.
