Van Alstyne -- Charles Edward Skaggs, Sr., age 76, went to be with the LORD Monday, June 11, 2007 in Sherman Texas. Funeral services will be held in the Flesher Funeral Home Chapel at 10 am Thursday June 14.  Brother Jim Poole of Elmont Baptist Church and Brother Jimmy Tarrant of First Baptist Church of Van Alstyne will be officiating. Burial will be in Collinsville Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Mr. Skaggs' nephews.
Charles was born in Collinsville Texas on June 6, 1931 to Nathan and Jessie Wilson Skaggs. He married Helen Rabe on September 2, 1955 in Durant, Oklahoma. He served in the United States Navy during the Korean War.
He is survived by his wife Helen Skaggs of Van Alstyne; two daughters, Cindy Skaggs of Van Alstyne and Shonna Jenkins and husband Mark of Van Alstyne; one son, Charles Edward Skaggs, Jr of Van Alstyne; three granddaughters, Ashley Jenkins of McKinney, Jessica Jenkins of Van Alstyne and Abbey Skaggs of Fort Worth ; three sisters, Joyce Mathis of Collinsville, Daisy Rollins of Allen and Pat Morriss of Midland; one step-sister, Myrtle McAnally of McKinney; three step-brothers, Jack Rollins of Sherman, Floyd Rollins of Shepherd and Lloyd Rollins of McKinney. He had many nieces and nephews and friends.
Visitation will be at Flesher Funeral Home on Wednesday June 13 2007 from 6 to 8 pm. The family will be at 313 W. Stephens Street in Van Alstyne.
