Services for Cathy Joan Hossle, 63, of Sherman who passed away Monday, January 8, 2018 at Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas were held Thursday, January 11, at Trinity Lighthouse Church, Denison.  David Ellis and Palmer Miller from A Christian Fellowship Church, officiated.  Interment followed at Collinsville Cemetery and the Travis #117 Masonic Lodge in Sherman served as pallbearers.
Cathy was born on May 7, 1954 to L.L. and Tassie Woody in Denton, Texas.  She was raised in Collinsville and attended Collinsville schools, graduating from Collinsville High School.  She had two sons, Geoffrey and Jeremy Hughes that were the light of her life.  She married the love of her life, Todd Hossle, in 1993.  They spent 24 wonderful years of marriage together.
Cathy was a joyful and faithful woman her entire life.  She was raised in the Shady Grove Congregationalist Methodist Church and attended Hagerman Baptist Church for many years.  She and Todd took many cruises together, as often as 1 a year for the last 12 years.  The last cruise she was able to go on with all of her siblings and their spouses was perfect.  In 2008 Cathy had a major boating accident, which prompted her doctor to tell her she would never walk again.  She responded to the doctor by telling him, "Sir, you don't know me and you don't know my Great Physician!"  Three days later she was walking with assistance of parallel bars and six weeks later she was walking out of the hospital on her own.
Cathy always loved helping people.  She had gotten her CNA and her CMA nursing certificates and decided she loved working with geriatric patients, working at Oakland Manor in Oakland, Iowa and Gunter Nursing Home in Gunter, Texas.  She spent five years caring for her ailing mother-in-law until her passing.  Nanna, as she was known by her grandchildren, loved her family and she loved her grandchildren especially.  She was a tremendously loving, caring, sweet and thoughtful person to everyone who had the blessing of knowing her.
Cathy is survived by her husband, Todd Frederick Hossle, of Sherman; two sons, Geoffrey Hughes of Whitesboro and Jeremy Hughes and wife, Leslie, of Sherman; three brothers, Allen Woody and wife, Helen, of Marietta, Oklahoma; Donnie Woody and wife, Joanne, of Lakewood, Colorado; and Randy Woody and wife, Bonnie, of Collinsville; sister, Pam Phillips and husband, Tony, of Sherman; three grandchildren: Jace and Jeremiah Hughes and Makayla Besherse; many nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Memorials may be made in Cathy's name to Alpha 1 Deficiency Foundation at Alpha1.org. - - - Dannel Funeral Home
