PHOENIX, Ariz., Nov. 6. - Homer Williams, 22, of Collinsville, Texas ...in a hospital here from burns suffered when he rolled into a campfire near Gila Bend, Ariz., Friday ... Williams and Fred Meekles ... trying to reach California on a freight train, according to Meekles ... weather forced them to leave ... train at Gila Bend. They built a campfire and after warming themselves, fell asleep. During the night Williams rolled into the fire, his screams awakening Meekles. The injured man was brought to Phoenix; his burns were so severe that little hope was held for his recovery. The body will be sent to Collinsville tomorrow.

COLLINSVILLE MAN BURNS TO DEATH AT CAMP

Phoenix, Arizona, Nov. 6 - Homer Williams, 22, of Collinsville, Texas, is dead in a hospital here from burns received when he rolled into a camp fire near Gila Bend, Arizona, Friday night.
Williams and Fred Meekles were trying to reach California on a freight train, according to Meekles.  Cold weather forced them to leave the train at Gila Bend.  They built a camp fire near town and after warming themselves, fell asleep. During the night Williams rolled into the fire, his screams awakening Meekles.  The injured man was brought to Phoenix, but his burns were so severe that little hope was entertained for his recovery.
The body will be sent to Collinsville tomorrow.
