PONDER – Going Home Celebration for James Smith Jenkins, 84, will be held on Monday, September 1, 2014, from 1-2 p.m., in the Meador Funeral Home Chapel in Whitesboro, Texas. Interment will follow the services at Collinsville Cemetery. There will be no visitation services.
He passed away on August 28, 2014 in Ponder, Texas.
James was born on October 26, 1929 in Pilot Point, Texas to Hugh Thomas and Cornelia Jenkins. He married Jewel King on May 15, 1952 in Gainesville, Texas. He was a retired truck driver for the Sunoco Oil Company. James was a Christian and of the Baptist faith. He loved to play guitar and enjoyed writing and singing his own music. He was a carpenter and could build anything. He had a very sharp memory.
He is survived by his wife, Jewel Jenkins, of Ponder; daughters: Beverly Kelly and husband, Don, of Joshua; Brenda White and husband, Allen, of Ft. Worth; Bonnie Reeves and husband, John, of Ponder; and Minnie Hennegan and husband, Rowdy, of Ponder; son, John Paul Jenkins, of Ponder; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Hugh and Cornelia Jenkins; son, J. D. Jenkins; granddaughter, Beverly Greer; and grandson, Joshua Gatlin.
Pallbearers will be John Paul Jenkins, John Reeves, Rowdy Hennegan; Allen White, Michael Dodson, and Tim Robinson.


Graveside services forJewel Dean Jenkins, 81, of Ponder, Texas will be held Monday, March 28, 2016, at 11 a.m. at Collinsville Cemetery with Rev. Johnny Johnston officiating.  She passed away peacefully at her home in Ponder, Texas, Friday, March 25th with her loving family by her side.
She was born December 10, 1934, in Sanger, Texas to Hubert and Minnie King.  She married James Jenkins on May 15, 1952, in Gainesville, Texas.  She retired from the Denton State School after 23 years of faithful service.  She was a Christian and of the Baptist faith.  She was a very creative person who loved to paint and was always working on something new.
She is survived by her daughters, Beverly Kelly and husband, Don, of Joshua; Brenda White and husband, Allen, of Ft. Worth; Bonnie Reeves and husband, John, of Ponder; and Minnie Hennegan and husband, Rowdy, of Poners; son, John Paul Jenkins of Ponder; 8 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Joyce Robinson of Denison and Lou Robinson of Whitesboro and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Hubert and Minnie King; husband, James Jenkins; son James David Jenkins, granddaughters, Beverly Dean Greer and Tammy Lynn Dodson and grandson, Joshua Gatlin; sisters, Pearl Smith, Polly Wilkerson and Gloria Mackey and a brother, James King.
