Robert E. Dobbs

Robert was born in Sherman, Texas the son of Emmot and Willie Opal McKnight Dobbs. He died at the Gainesville Memorial Hospital, Gainesville, Texas.
On 25 August 1962, he married Miss Betty Staton in Garland, Texas and they were blessed with a son. She preceded him in death in 1973.
At the time of his death he was the spouse of Helen Clark, who he married on 29 August 1975.
He was a Korean conflict Navy veteran and for 29 years he was employed in the maintenance department of the Texas Department of Transportation.
He was a member of Clement Street Missionary Baptist Church, Gainesville.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Joe Edward.
Robert was survived by his wife of the home; son, Bobby Dobbs of Sherman; step-son, Gerald Clark of Norfolk, Virginia,; step-daughters, Sherri Auchter of Conroe and Renee Broussard of Houston, both in Texas; brothers, Bill of Whitesboro, Cecil of Sadler, David Michael of Sherwood Shores and Ronnie Dale of Melissa, all in Texas; sisters, Freda Simmons and Dorothy Ludlam, both of Whitesboro, Texas; and 10 grandchildren.
Memorial services were held at Vernie Keel Funeral Chapel, Gainesville, with Reverend Lynn Hitt, pastor of Clement Street Missionary Baptist Church and Dr. Ralph Hogue, pastor of Hibbit Baptist Church, Gainesville, officiating.
