MADGE WALKER PROVINE

Services for Mrs. Madge Walker Provine will be held Sunday at 3 p.m. at Collinsville United Methodist Church. Rev. Allen Randall will be officiating. Burial will be in Collinsville United Methodist Church Cemetery. James F. Webb Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Provine, 95, of Collinsville, died Thursday, July 19, 2007 at her home. She was born in Collinsville on Dec. 15, 1911, the only girl of seven brothers and has been a member of Collinsville United Methodist Church since early childhood. Her father gave the land for the church, parsonage and cemetery. She graduated from Collinsville High School and attended MSCW. She met her husband in front of CUMC in 1933, they married in 1936 in Dallas, Texas. He taught Chemistry and math at Collinsville High School. She was a member of the 4-H Club, Lula Moore Garden Club, Collinsville Community Club, WMU Circle, Eastern Star and Homeroom mother. She also served as a Sunday School teacher, Brownie leader and Voluntary Literacy Tutor.
She is survived by her granddaughter, Paige Ponder-Freeman and her husband, Zachary, of Chicago; great-grandchildren, Max Walker Ponder-Freeman and Sebastian Ford Ponder-Freeman; Paige?s brother, Ned Ponder; and his mother, Sharon Kremer of Denton, Texas; a nephew Jerry Walker and wife, Peggy, of Collinsville, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Foster Provine; parents, William and Ida Walker; daughter, Patricia Provine Ponder and seven brothers.
Pallbearers will be Pruitt Smith, Jim Thompson, Gunnis Hill, Clyde Walker, Ransom Gough, Fred Phillips, Donald Belvin and Ronnie Dallas. Honorary pallbearer is James Crenshaw.
Visitation will be today from 5 p.m.-7 p.m. at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service on Sunday. ----The Meridian Star, July 21, 2007
