DEATH ROLL
CRUSON INFANT

The infant of Mr. and Mrs. Jesse C. Cruson of route 2 died Sunday at 1:30 p.m. at a local hospital shortly after birth.
Funeral services were held this afternoon at 2:30 from the Denison Funeral Home chapel, Rev. Bruce Hibbit officiating.  Interment was at Layne Cemetery, Denison Funeral Home directing.
The child is survived by his parents, four brothers, Jack Dean, Dwan Doyal, Nolan and Roy of Denison; and six sisters, Ava Jean, Betty Lou, Billy Ruth, Wanda, Clora Lee and Erline Cruson, all of Denison.

PRESTON BEND YOUTH KILLED IN GUN MISHAP
Bullet wounds inflicted by an accidental discharge of a gun in the hands of a neighborhood companion proved fatal Tuesday afternoon to Nolan Cruson, 12-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Jesse C. Cruson of the Preston Bend community.  The youth died a few hours later at a local hospital
Nolan and his companion were running towards a barn in the rear of the Cruson home to inspect furs brought in by Mr. Cruson and his eldest son, Jack, who had returned from hunting in the woods nearby.  The gun caught in a fence gate as the youths passed through and accidentally discharged, the bullet hitting Nolan in the back and piercing to his heart.  He was picked up by his father and rushed to the hospital where he died a short time later.  Young Cruson was saving the furs to be sold later in order that he might have money to purchase Christmas gifts.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday from the Denison Funeral Home, Rev. Bruce Hibbitt officiating.  Interment is to be at Layne cemetery, Denison Funeral Home directing.
Nolan was born at Preston Bend in 1928 and was attending the Eureka school.
Surviving are his parents; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. J.C. Lady of Sentinel, Oklahoma and Mr. and Mrs. G.W. Cruson of Clinton, Oklahoma; 3 brothers, Jack, Dwan and Billy, all of Preston Bend; and 6 sisters, Ava, Betty, Wanda, Clora, Earline and Cleo Cruson of Preston Bend.

Youth Fatally Shot as Hunting Trip Ends
Denison, Texas, Dec. 11 - Nolan Cruson, 12, was fatally wounded when a gun in the hands of Loranzo Hudgins, 15, was accidentally discharged at the end of a hunting trip.  The two were assisting J.C. Cruson, father of the dead boy, in the uploading of game and pelts when the gun was discharged as they went through a gate.
The bullet struck him in the back and passed near his heart.  He was brought to a Denison Hospital but he died almost on arrival.
Funeral services will be conducted here at 3 p.m. Thursday.  Burial will be in the Layne Cemetery.
Surviving are his parents, three brothers and sisters.
