Joyce Alene Ross Vest passed away at the age of 88 on June 4, 2020 in Denison, Texas.
Joyce was born September 4, 1931 in Denison, Texas, daughter of Jess and Margurite Ross.  She attended Denison schools and was the oldest of 8 children.
Joyce was always busy working at different local businesses or at home.  She worked at Lo-MAC Drug Store in Denison, JC Penney, Diaper Jeans, over 20 years at Texas Instruments, Ya-Hoo Baking Company and Vest Brothers Market.  Joyce loved to crochet, embroidery, sew, bake and gossip daily with her sisters.  You could hear her laughter and knew one of her siblings was on the phone with her again!  She was notorious for giving gifts early because she could not wait to give the lucky person their gift.  Even better, the gift often came with a baked treat - like her famous pecan pie or peanut butter cookies.  Every Christmas and birthday she gifted her family with wonderful homemade gifts - favorites were embroidered dish towels, beautiful quilts, crocheted house slippers, and once some special crocheted red "Flash" booties for a very excited 4-year-old to race around the house.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Morris "ML" Laverne Vest; her son, David Burgess; her granddaughter, Angie Embry; and her brother, Jerry Ross.
Joyce is survived by her children: Janice Hallmark of Denison; Kenneth Burgess and wife, Carrie, of Allen, Texas; Sheri Monroe and husband, Norman, of Denison.  Her stepchildren: John Vest and wife, Penny, of Denison; Sharon Ward of San Diego, California; and Sheila Murrell of Denison.

A service of remembrance was held Saturday morning, June 13, 2020 at Denison Waterloo Lake Pavillion with Larry Myers officiating.  Her final planning was under the direction of Fisher Funeral Home of Denison.  Joyce was laid to rest beside her husband at Cherry Mound Cemetery.
