Albert  L. Shillings [sic], 69, route 1, Bells, died at 3:15 a.m.  today following an illness of 3 weeks. He had made his home at that
point for 43 years.  Funeral services were conducted Thursday afternoon at Cherry Mound Church with Rev. John King officiating.  Interment was at Cherry Mound with Short-Murray directing.  Pall-bearers were Albert Whitlock, O.R. Boykin, J.C. Isom, A.H. Sanderson, J.W. Cravens and E.E. Vaughan.
Mr. Shillings was born September 27, 1872 in Faulkner county, Arkansas, his  parents being Mr. and Mrs. Henry Shillings.  He was married in 1904 to Miss Maggie Putnam at Cherry Mound.
At the age of 17 he came to Lamar county, and in 1900 moved to Cherry Mound. He had farmed many years and for the past 2 years was in bad health. He was active in civic and church life and was a member of the board of deacons of the Cherry Mound Baptist church for 27 years.
Surviving are his widow, a son, Leon, of Sherman; and 2 daughters, Mrs. Cleo Carpenter and Mrs. Ervin Taylor, both of Whitewright.
Brothers are Henry of Cera, California; E.L. and Eugene of Ola, Arkansas; and J.L.  of Commerce, Texas.  Sisters are Mrs. Emma
Markham, Orange, California; and 2 half-sisters, in Arkansas.  Also surviving are 3 grandchildren.
