James R Simpson, 84, a retired employee of Quaker Oats Company, died Friday, November 13, in a Sherman hospital after an illness of one year.  His home was at 901 S. Throckmorton St.
Services were held Monday, November 16, at 10 a.m. in the Renfro-Barrett Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Fred Hall, pastor of Central Christian Church, officiating.  Burial was in Cedarlawn Memorial Park.  Pallbearers were Glen Hughes, Ted Simpson, Cecil Christian, Elzie Fanning, Lillard Wilkerson, and BOb Roberts.
Mr. Simpson, a life-long resident of this area, was a member of the Central Christian Church.  He was the son of the late
Mr. and Mrs. James W. Simpson.  He was married to Myrtle Miller in 1906 at Blue Ridge, Texas.

Surviving are his wife, three daughters, Mrs. Verba Blackmon of Dallas, Mrs. Lois Snowden of Sherman, and Mrs. Ruby Spiro of Dallas; a brother, Leo Simpson of Van Alstyne; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
