DENISON - Graveside service for retired Lt. Col. Edward T. Yelton Jr., 58, of Route 3, who died Tuesday in a local hospital, were at 2 p.m. Thursday at Cedarlawn Memorial Park. Carswell Air Force Base, Fort Worth, conducted military graveside rites. Bratcher Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Yelton was born September 19, 1931 in Hendersonville, North Carolina, son of Edward T. and Naomi Yelton. He graduated from Hendersonville High School in 1950 and from Southeastern Oklahoma State University in 1976. Yelton married Jimmie Garner September 6, 1954 in Durant. He retired as a lieutenant colonel in the U.S. Air Force, where he served 21 years and was a pilot. He served in Korea and completed two tours of Vietnam. Yelton was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Waco.
Surviving are his wife; daughter Linda Nichols of Savoy; and two grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Tracey Garner, James Nichols, Brian Nichols, Donald Nichols, Joe Early and Donald J. Nichols Jr.
