Sherman - Funeral services for Mrs. J.M. Wester, 71, who died Sunday in a Sherman nursing home, were held Tuesday afternoon in the Dannel Funeral Home chapel.  Burial was in Cedarlawn Cemetery.
Mrs. Wester was born January 16, 1899 in Missouri and attended Delta County schools.  She married J.M. Wester on July 17, 1915 in Cooper.  She and her husband moved to this area in 1936 from Lamar County.
Survivors include her husband; 5 sons, James L. and Winston, both of Sherman; Charles of Savoy; Calvin of Greenville; and Donald of Pottsboro; 4 daughters, Mrs. Pauline Wilson of Sherman; Mrs. Clara Swindell of Southmayd; Mrs. Fred Becknell of Ft. Worth; and Mrs. Mary Brinless of Odessa; one brother, Floyd Berry of Soper, Oklahoma; 2 sisters, Mrs. Laura Cates of Sherman and Mrs. Jessie Cotton of Sheridan, Arkansas; 27 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.



Services were held Monday afternoon in the Dannel Funeral Chapel for James M. Wester, 83, of Rt. 1, Pottsboro who died Saturday in a Sherman hospital.  Rev. Cas French of the Victory Baptist Church officiated, assisted by Rev. Charles French of the Texas Cities Missionary Baptist Church in Houston.  Burial was in Cedarlawn Memorial Park.
A retired farmer and Sherman resident since 1936, he was born in Cooper, son of Calvin and Mary Reagan Wester.  He attended Cooper schools, the Tyler Commercial College, and was married to Annie M. Berry on July 16, 1916 in Cooper.  He was a charter member of the Victory Baptist Church.  He farmed actively throughout Lamar and Delta counties before coming to Grayson County in 1936.
He is survived by sons, James L. Wester and W. W. Wester, both of Sherman; Charles D. Wester of Collinsville; Calvin E. Wester of Greenville; and Donald L. Wester of Pottsboro; daughters Mrs. Pauline Wilson of Sherman; Mrs. Lloyd Swindle of Southmayd; Mrs. Jack ____ of Fort Worth; and Mrs. Bob Brinlee of Odessa; brothers, J.C. Wester of Dallas and Leslie Wester of  ____; sisters, Mrs. Bill Patterson of Cooper and Mrs. Mae Allsup of Leveland; 21 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.
Pallbearers, all grandsons, were Larry Swindle, Jerry Swindle, Mike Wester, Robert Wester, Mike Jones and Don Peity.
