Denison - On Sunday, January 5, 2014 the angels sang as Jesus welcomed Emma Waymire to her eternal home in Heaven.  Emma left this Earth to be with her Lord and Savior after serving Him faithfully for 89 years.
Emma was born in Sherman, Texas on October 20, 1924, daughter of Daniel Marion and Minnie Ellen Hicks Sutherland.  She was one of 10 children born to Daniel and Minnie.  She had 8 sisters and one brother.  Emma said the greatest gift her parents ever gave her was her Christian heritage.  Their love for God kept their family strong during difficult times.  Emma said that their Christian faith lived on throughout her life and will continue to be a part of her into eternity.  Praise God!
On May 15, 1942 Emma married the love of her life, Earl C. Waymire.  They were married in their preacher's home in Denison, Texas.  They enjoyed 65 wonderful years together. From their union they had 2 children: Elaine Waymire Henslee and Robert Waymire.  During their 65 years of marriage, Earl was a painting contractor who bought and sold houses and Emma was a homemaker.  She loved this role and loved taking care of her family.  She had a wonderful sense of humor and used it lovingly while raising her children.  She loved to take her kids on church trips while they were growing up.
Emma devoted her life to her family and to Christ.  She loved to deer hunt and to fish.  She spent her life in church from the time she was 6 years old and referred to herself as being a member of "Christ's Church."  Her failing health prevented her from attending during the last several years, but she faithfully worshipped at home.  Some of her favorite scriptures include:
"Be strong and of good courage, be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed; for the Lord thy God is with thee withersoever thou goest." Joshua 1:9
"For God hath not given us the spirit of fear, but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind." II Timothy 1
"Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you." Matthew 5:44
She loved to talk about the Lord and read scriptures to anyone who was a guest in her home.  She used to say, "The rest of God's word is etched in my memory."
Left to cherish her precious memory is her son, Robert Waymire; her sister, Betty Kuykendall; her 8 grandchildren, Staph, Clay and Keith Henslee; Ronnie, Kenny, Shannon, Robert, Jr., and Angie Waymire; and 21 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her beloved daughter, Elaine; 7 sisters and her brother; and numerous other family members.
When you left her house, you left knowing the Lord and knowing she loved the Lord.  Her family takes comfort in knowing that she is rejoicing in Heaven with Jesus, Earl and Elaine.  This peom epitomizes Emma's outlook on life and death.  She truly believed with all her heart that our bodies are here on Earth as merely a vessel in which to do God's work.  Emma, Go with God and rest peacefully in His arms. We will see you again some day!

"When I come to the end of the day and the sun has set for me, I want no rites in a gloom-filled room.
Why cry for a soul set free?
Miss me a little, but not too long, and not with your head bowed low.
Remember the love we once shared - miss me a little but let me go.
For this journey we all must take, and each must go alone.
It's all part of the Master's plan, a step on the road to home.
When you are lonely and sick at heart, go to friends we knwon and bury your sorrows in doing good dees -
Miss me but let me go."

Funeral services for Mrs. Waymire were held Thursday afternoon, January 9, 2014 at Fisher Funeral Chapel with Keith Henslee officiating. Private interment was held at Cedarlawn Memroial Park.
