SHERMAN - Funeral for Charles J. Ward, 72, who died May 30, 1994 at Chapel of Care Nursing Home, were heldWednesday afternoon in the Waldo Funeral Home chapel. Rev. Thomas Beall will officiate. Burial was in Cedarlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Ward was born July 20, 1921 in Gober, son of P.C.Ward and Callie Hulsey Ward. He married Betty Barnes June 21, 1977 in Durant. He graduated school in Gober and retired as a welder from Red River Arsenal. He was in the Army Medical Corps from 1942-1945 in World War II. He was a member of the American Legion. He was also a member of East Sherman Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of Sherman; mother of Sherman; 2 step-daughters, Glenda Ball of Randolph and Mary Chapman of Van Alstyne; one step-son, Edward Barnes of Tom Bean; one sister, Estelle Cunningham of Sherman; one brother, Joe Ward of Sherman; 7 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Pallbearers were Billy Joe Barnes, Lonnie Chapman, Chris Dotson, Marty Nealy, Scotty Chapman and Danny Cunningham.
