Established 1948    Donald Lee Wright, age 79, entered into eternal life Thursday, October 20, 2011 at Texoma Medical Center. Mr. Wright was born June 28, 1932 in Denison, Texas, the son of Robert Lee and Eliza Janette (Bess) Wright. He served his country proudly as an airman in the U.S. Navy. Donald married the love of his life, Betty Landers in Denison, Texas. Later he retired from Civil Service after 37 years. He loved the Lord and attended East Baptist Church. Donald was a kind and loving man who was known for his keen sense of humor and capacity to spread laughter to whomever he encountered. He was larger than life, and anyone who ever met him would attest to that. His passing will leave a void in so many lives, but his spirit will dwell in our hearts forever. Mr. Wright is survived by his beloved family, wife, Betty Wright of Denison; son, Gary Don Wright and wife, Kimberly of San Antonio, Texas; daughter, Lana Wright Thomason and husband, Robbie of McKinney, Texas and daughter, Donna Blankenship of Wichita, Kansas; grandchildren, Taylor Jo Blankenship, Alexa Rae Blankenship, Gage Dylan Thomason, Braden Lee Wright, Seth Ryan Thomason and Alexandra Caroline Wright and great-granddaughter, Rylie Jo Blankenship; sisters, Francis Lewis and husband, Gil of Denison; and Pat Hedgepath and husband, Cal of Arlington, Texas. Donald was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Eliza Wright; brothers, Billy Jean Wright and Robert Arthur Wright and sisters, Juanita Patrick and Mary Martha Cox. Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, October 24, 2011 at East Baptist Church with Brother Brett Castle officiating. Interment followed in Cedarlawn Memorial Park in Sherman. Pallbearers were Angelo Weda, James Carroll, Bud Carroll, David Carroll, Freddie Paul Wright, Bud Means, Billy Odle, Dwayne Wortham and Tommy Maddalena. Arrangements were under the direction of Fisher Funeral Home, located at 604 West Main in Denison.
