Pottsboro - Funeral services for Carolyn Whiting Williams, age 76, of Pottsboro were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 7, 2011 in the Waldo Funeral Home Chapel.  Pastor Roger Spears of Kemp Baptist Church, Kemp, Oklahoma officiated.
Pallbearers were Fred Gampper, Earl Lovelace, Jay Jackson, Carl Gampper, Brian Medart and Robert Hickman.  Interment  followed in the Veterans FIeld of Honor at Cedarlawn Memorial Park.  Waldo Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Williams passed away Wednesday, May 4, 2011, at Texas Health Presbyterian Hosptial-WNJ.
Carolyn was born October 1, 1934, in Greenville, Texas to W.B. and Dorothy Whiting.  She moved to Sherman at age 14 and graduated from Sherman High School in 1953.  She attended North Texas State University in Denton for 1 year.  Carolyn worked for Texas Telephone Company which became General Telephone Company of the SE and later GTE for 18 years.
On January 13, 1973 Carolyn married C.L. Williams.  He preceded her in death September 22, 2003.  She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Sherman, Elks #238, a lifetime member of Sherman VFW 2772 Ladies Auxiliary and American Legion MIA Post 231.
Preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Jimmy Grissom, two brothers, one grandson and stepson Mark Williams, stepdaughter Penny Earnhart, Carolyn is survived by her daughter Jan Rudolf and husband Rick of Tom Bean, Texas; daughter-in-lawTerri Grissom of Cartwright, Okla....granddaughters, Cassie Grissom, Jewelz Rudolf and Shelley Williams; grandsons, Jimmy Daniel Grissom, Ricky Lynn Rudolf, Zakkery Rudolf, Chris Williams, Patrick Reasoner and Ben Earhnart; five great-grandchildren, and numerous other family members and friends.
Memorials may be made to an organization of the donor's choice.
