POTTSBORO - Calvin Vibbard passed away peacefully at home on February 28, 2010. He was surrounded by his family.
Services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 3, 2010 at Chapel on the Hill, Cedarlawn Memorial Park, 5805 Texoma Parkway, Sherman. Gerald Peddicord officiated. Pallbearers were Russ, Hunk, McMeans, Todd, Dave, Phil and Bob. Honorary pallbearers were Gerald Peddicord, John Denton, Hal Clark and Don McCutchen.
Mr. Vibbard was born on May 5, 1926 to parents Gladys and Earcil Vibbard in Curry County, New Mexico. He was the older of two sons. Both his parents and younger brother Melvin preceded him in death.
He was a graduate of Amarillo High School. He served in the U.S. Navy in World War II and was proud of his military service. Cal had a great passion for his family, country music, golf and crosswords. He had a contagious sense of humor. He retired as managing president of Monitor Steel Inc. of Sherman. He will be greatly missed by all.
Calvin is survived by his loving wife JoAnn; three children - Nawana Hunkapiller and husband Norman of Calera, Oklahoma; Debbie McMeans and husband J.B. of Conifer, Colorado; Russ Vibbard and wife Carol of Petaluma, California; three step-children Bob Powell and wife Linda of Denison; Patricia Guier and husband Dave of Arlington; Teresa Shackleton and husband Philip of Pottsboro; grandchildren, Todd Hunkapiller, Lisa Walsh, Ray Currey, Tammy Hunkapiller, Shawn Currey, Amber Currey, Larry Caldwell; 14 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, please send memorial donations to Preston Volunteer Emergency Services.
Arrangements were entrusted to the care and direction of Bratcher Funeral Home, 401 W. Woodard Street, Denison.
