Howe - Services for Gene Vaughan, 68, of Howe, who died May 29, 1997, in Wilson N. Jones Regional Health System, were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 31, 1997, in the First Baptist Church.  Brother Roger Tidwell officiated and burial was in Cedarlawn Cemetery.  Arrangements were under the direction of Flesher Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Wes Smith, Leon Thornhill, Bill Smith, Billy Joe Wheeler, Bill Jennings, Gerald Hickox, Jack Norman and Alton Norman.  
Memorials may be made to the Howe Baptist Church Building Fund or the Cancer Society.
Mr. Vaughan was born December 31, 1928 in Denton County, the son of Frank Vaughan and Bessie Wilson Vaughan.  He married Marilee Wortham on June 23, 1973, in Howe, Texas.  He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Howe. He worked in maintenance at Texas Instruments and was a farmer.
Surviving are his wife, Marilee Vaughan of Howe, Texas; step-daughter and husband, Carla and Rickey Carter of Howe, Texas;
2 stepsons, David Wortham and wife, Jerri, of Howe, Texas and Scott Wortham of Sherman, Texas; step-grandchildren, Kendall and Kristin Carter, Stephen Wortham, Michael Lewis and Erica and Russell Wortham; 3 sisters, Ruth Bone of Kemp, Texas; Kathy Hamm and husband, Harold of McKinney, Texas, and Beatrice Williams of Glendale, Arizona; 3 brothers, Frank Vaughan of Celina, Texas, Wilbur Vaughan and wife, Barbara of Whitesboro, Texas, and Jerry Paul Vaughan and wife, Carla, of Corinth, Texas.
