- Funeral services for Captola Thornton were held Friday morning, July
28, 2006 at Waldo Funeral Home with Weldon Stoker of the Parkview
Church of Christ officiating. Burial folowed at Cedarlawn
Memorial Park in Sherman, Texas. Pallbearers were Raleigh Graves,
Marvin Graves, Jerry Crumley, Gail Lockhart, Terry Dailey, and Allen
Price. Mrs. Thornton passed away Tuesday, July 25, 2006 at Wilson N. Jones Medical Center. Captola was born on October 12, 1913 in Tioga, Texas, daughter of Joseph and Nancy Richardson McKinney. After graduating from Windom High School in 1931, she married Wayne Thornton on September 15, 1932 in Bonham, Texas. Captola worked for Burlington Industries for 15 years until retirement in 1969. She was a longtime member of the Parkview Church of Christ. Mrs. Thornton is survived by daughter, Nancy Smith, of Sherman; 4 grandchildren, Luis Lora of Kennesaw, Georgia; Steve Lora of Sherman, Texas; David Lora of Denison, Texas; and Mary Graves of Durant, Oklahoma; 6 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren. - - - Waldo Funeral Home  Cedarlawn Cemetery Susan Hawkins © 2024 If you find any of Grayson County TXGenWeb links inoperable, please send me a message. |
