DENISON - Funeral for Gordon H. Teachout, 66, of Denison, who died Tuesday in a local hospital, were held Friday afternoon in Johnson-Moore Funeral Home. Dr. Ron Cunningham officiated. Burial was in Cedarlawn Memorial Park, with military rites conducted by VFW Post 7873 of Pottsboro.
Teachout was born July 15, 1924 in Port Arthur, son of Archie and Catherine Gordon Teachout. He graduated from Galena Park High School and attended the University of Houston. He married Betty Lou Cowherd December 14, 1948 in Houston. Teachout was an independent insurance agent and a member of the Lone Star Masonic Lodge 403, Elks Lodge, American Legion and V.F.W. in Pottsboro. A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Army.
Surviving are his wife; 4 sons, Greg of Houston; Brad of Fort Myers, Florida; Scott of Tampa; Lane of Austin; 2 sisters, Peggy Whitehurst of Lincoln, Nebraska; and Mary Rush of Tomball; and 4 grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Garland Fitzgerald, Jack Burrows, Wally Fowler, Kenneth Walton, Jack Walton, and Dick Tinsley.
