Services were held Thursday morning in the Western Heights Church of Christ for 71-year-old Sherman resident Roger M. Turner Jr., 71, who died Saturday in a Sherman hospital.  Burial was at Cedarlawn Cemetery. Gary Blakeney, Church of Christ minister from Clifton, officiated, assisted by Joe Ed Furr of Western Heights Church of Christ. Dannel Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Turner died January 15, 1994.

Mr. Turner was born July 28, 1922 in Sandusky, son of Roger Monroe Turner and Mary Geneva Parrish Turner. He attended schools in Dallas and in Post.
He married Nada Ruther Blackened Augist 10, 1948 in Claude. He lived in White Deer and worked for Richardson Motor Co. In 1950 he worked for Cabot Machine Shop in Pampa. He was a minister for the Church of Christ from 1955 to 1976. He preached in congregations in Texas and Arkansas.
In 1976 he began working at Texas Instruments as a tool and cutter grinder. He also hand-crafted custom knives, retiring in 1988.
He was a veteran having served during World War II in the Army Air Force. He was a member of the Western Heights Church of Christ, serving as a deacon. He taught a Bible Class for 16 years.
Survivors include wife of Sherman; son Joe Mike Turner of Sherman; daughters, Cynthia Louise Miller of Lubbock, Mary Catherine McBee of Dodge City, Kan.; sister, Robbie Sharp of Lubbock, seven grandchildren.
Pallbearers are Billy Blakeney, Joe Blakeney, Tom Blakeney, Ray Blakeney, Gene Sullivan, Steve McIntosh.
Family will be at the funeral home today from 7 to 8 p.m.
Memorials may be made to Mountain Fork Christian Camp in Care of Billy Blakeney, P.O.Box 2778 Foreman, Ark. 71836 or to St. Jude Children's Hospital, 322 N. Lauderdale, Memphis, Tenn. 38105.
