DENISON - Funeral services for Veta Vincent Thomas, 84, of Denison who died December 13, 1998, at Texoma Medical Center, were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, December 16, in the First Baptist Church, Denison.  Burial was in Cedarlawn Memorial Park with Rev. Keith Barbee and Rev. Joe Dee Ray officiating.  Johnson-Moore Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Thomas was born March, 23, 1914, on Rt. 4, Sherman, Texas.  She was the daughter of Joseph A. and Ida Freeman Vincent.  Mrs. Thomas graduated from Tom Bean High School and attended Ivy's Business College of Sherman, Texas.  She was an office employee of Barrett Grocery Co. for 22 years.  She was a member of the Social Order of the Beauceant and American Business Women's Association.
She became a Christian in 1925, and had been active in her church, Baptist, through the years.  She was a devoted worker in the Sunday School elementary department and her Sunday School Department.
Some of her greatest joys were caring for her parents through their last illnesses.
October 10, 1964, she and Malcolm J. Thomas were married in Port Arthur, Texas, in the home of Dr. and Mrs. John M. Wright, a former pastor and neighbor of Mr. Thomas'.  For 34 years she was a devoted wife and homemaker.
Mrs. Thomas was the youngest of seven children; Carrie, Sallye, Clarence, Josh and Ruby have preceded her in death. 
She is survived by a brother, Tom Vincent, of Houston, Texas.  Also, a stepson, Dr. Malcolm J. Thomas Jr., and family of Lubbock, Texas; and a stepdaughter, Mrs. Joyce Thomas Daugherty and family of Houston, Texas; 6 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren; a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Memorials may be made to "I Love My Church" at First Baptist Church, Denison.
Pallbearers were Bob Vincent, Jack Teague, Bruce Vincent, A.H. Brown, Steve Wampler, Ken Jackson, Joe Kelson and Lyndol Irby.
