SHERMAN - A memorial service for Ursula Taylor, 76, of Sherman who died Thursday, March 26, 1998, at Sherman Nursing Center were held Monday, March 30, 1998 at the Trinity Lutheran Church on Loy Lake Road in Sherman.  Rev. Brad Carroll of the church officiated.  Cremation arrangements were under the direction of Dannel Funeral Home.  Entombment was at a later date at Cedarlawn Memorial Park.
Mrs. Taylor was born February 21, 1922, in Berlin, Germany, the daughter of Karl Epstude' and Irmgard Kell Epstude'.  She graduated from high school in Germany.  On March 22, 1956, in Greenwich, Connecticut, she married William S. Taylor and they moved to Sherman over 30 years ago.  She was a lifetime member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, the American Legion Post 29 Auxiliary and the Air Force Sergeants Association Auxiliary.
Surviving are her husband, of Sherman; sons, Mitchell E. Taylor of Peachtree, Georgia, and Thomas W. Taylor of El Paso; daughter, Ingrid Syamba of Berlin, Germany; and Siegrun Pottgen of Greenwich Connecticut; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Trinity Lutheran Church, Building Fund, North Loy Lake Road, Sherman, Texas.




Graveside services for William S. Taylor, 87, of Sherman, who passed away Thursday, October 19, 2017 at Wilson N. Jones Medical Center in Sherman, were held Tuesday, October 24, 2017 at Cedarlawn Memorial Park, Sherman.  Pastor Leland Samuelson officiated.  The United States Air Force rendered full military honors.
William was born in Morgantown, West Virginia on June 9, 1930 to Shelby E. Taylor and Florence M. Taylor.  He was raised in Morgantown and graduated from Morgantown High School.  Shortly after graduation, Bill embarked on a 20 year career in the United States Air Force and his duty assignments included Germany, Taiwan, Thailand, Greenland, and multiple state side locations.  Upon military retirement he began a full career with the United States Postal System that culminated as a letter carrier in Denison, Texas.  After leaving the postal service, Bill enjoyed a full, meaningful retirement until his passing.
Bill enjoyed a lifelong affiliation with military organizations including the Amvets and the American Legion.  He was an avid University of West Virginia Mountaineer sports fan.  Bill loved the Dallas Cowboys and any and everything Sherman.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Robert Taylor; his first wife, Ursula Taylor.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley; two son, Mitchell Taylor and wife, Theresa, of Peachtree City, Georgia; and Thomas Taylor and wife, Yang Hui, of El Paso, Texas; five daughters, Paula Smith and husband, Bruce, of Leonard; Tanya Burk of Sherman; Ingrid Syamba of Berlin, Germany; Siegrun Pottgen of Glennville, Connecticut; Kim Peckenpaugh and husband, Robert, of Sherman; many grand and great-children.
