DENISON - George William Thomas of Denison, 80-year-old retired brick mason, died Saturday, March 28, 1998, at Sam Rayburn Memorial Veterans Nursing Home in Bonham.
Services were held at 1:340 p.m. Wednesday, April 1, 1998, in Bratcher Funeral Chapel.  Officiating was Rev. Keith Taylor of Southside Baptist Church in Denison.  Burial was in Cedarlawn Memorial Park in Sherman, Texas.
Mr. Thomas was born on April 14, 1917, in Bee. Oklahoma, the son of Sherman M. and Atha Dee Ballard Thomas.
He was a World War II Army veteran, having served his country in the Philippines and New Guinea.  He received the Asiatic-Pacific Theater Ribbon with two Bronze Stars and the Liberation Ribbon with one Bronze Star.  He returned from
the South Pacific to the Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas.  He was a Baptist.

Pallbearers were Dale Hunter Sr., Dale Hunter Jr., Adolph Thomas, Douglas Thomas, Larry Thomas and Ronnie Thomas.
Honorary pallbearers were Jamie Thomas and nephews.
Surviving are one daughter, Barbara Cerutti of Hayward, California; one grandson, David Cerutti; one granddaughter, Courtney Cerutti; three brothers, J.B.Thomas and Harrison E. Thomas, both of Nida, Oklahoma, and S.M.Thomas of Mead, Oklahoma; four sisters, Beulah Tomlinson of Spencer, Oklahoma, Imogene Autry of Nida, Oklahoma, Joyce Gilbert of Durant, Oklahoma and Orleane Hunter of Denison, Texas.
