Established 1948  Denison Herald January 24, 1995 pg.2 Services for Mattie Tipton of Sherman, 93-year-old retired seamstress for Pool Manufacturing Company, were held Wednesday morning in Cedarlawn Memorial Chapel. She died Sunday at Wilson N. Jones Hospital. Rev. Loftus Nunley of the First Baptist Church officiated. Burial was in Cedarlawn Memorial Park. Waldo Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Tipton was born in Bells, daughter of William and Sarah Elizabeth Roller Duncan. She moved to Sherman at a young age and attended Sherman schools. In 1927 she married Jeffie Guy Tipton in Sherman. She was employed by Pool Manufacturing Company for 35 years and retired in1 966. She was a member of the First Baptist Church. Surviving are her daughters, Loe Etta Johnson of Sherman; Patsy Diggs of Oklahoma City; and Betty Leiby of Lexington, North Carolina; 5 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
