OBITUARIES

Phil Summers was born July 23, 1937 at Talpa, Texas, son of Jesse A. Summers and Pearl Sparks Summers. He married Waynona Lewis on March 24, 1980 at Kaufman, Texas. He died Wednesday, May 5, 2010 at the age of 72 at Medical Center of Plano in Plano, Texas.
He served his nation in the U.S. Army, and was the founder of the Whitewright Chapter of the Texoma Soccer Association.
He is survived by wife, Waynona Summers of Whitewright; son, Sean Summers of Sherman; daughter, Shannon Summers and Kelly Patrick, both of Sherman; son, Mark Patrick of Plano; son, Thomas Patrick of Whitewright; 14 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; sister, Nadine Nibbling of San Angelo; sister, Ila Mae Bullion of Lubbock; brother, Harvey Summers of Boerne; brother, Doug Summers of Austin; sister, Lu Ann Hedden of San Angelo; numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Murray and J.A. Summers.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon, May 10, 2010 at the Whitewright Church of Christ.  Mr. Frazier Conley officiated the services, with burial following at Cedarlawn Memorial Park in Sherman, Texas. Military Honors were provided at the graveside by an U.S. Army Honor Guard from Ft. Hood, Texas.  Pallbearers were Brandon Wetzel, Craig Brantley, L.J. Jones, Mark Patrick, Thomas Patrick, Sean Summers, Steven McMillan, and Charles Cox.

Arrangements were with Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, Whitewright, Texas.
