Billie Jean Stephens

Billie J. Stephens, 82, who died Friday, July 29, 2016 at Homestead of Sherman, surrounded by her loving family.
A Celebration of Life service was held Tuesday morning, August 2, 2016 at Dannel Funeral Home Chapel, Sherman, Texas.  Officiant was Rev. Brandon Powell of Sherman Church of the Nazarene and private interment followed at Cedarlawn Memorial Park in Sherman.
Mrs. Stephenson was born January 31, 1934 in Green County, Tennessee, daughter of Ruby Dixon and Clyde L. Aldridge.  She married Olie Stephens on November 14, 1992 in Blackstone, Virginia.
For approximately 19 years she was a seamstress with the Levi Strauss Company in Blackstone, Virginia.  She also worked as a receptionist and secretary and managed a child care center.
She was a member of the Sherman Church of the Nazarene, a member of the Writer's Organization for Grayson County Community College, and was a volunteer for Home Hospice of Grayson County.
Mrs. Stephens was preceded in death by her parents; and husband.
She is survived by sons, Larry Bates and wife, Sarah, of Denison, Texas; and Robert Lee Bates and wife, Vivian, of Alpena, Michigan; daughter, Laureene Tucker and husband, Mike, of Geraldine, Alabama; sisters, Betty Cameron and husband, Bill, of Dowelltown, Tennessee; Brenda Fite and husband, Micky, of Pembroke, Kentucky; and Gay Hodges of Rice, Virginia; grandchildren, Ashley and Rachel Ponder of Whitewright, Texas; and J. Forde of Sherman, Texas; great-grandchildren, Brennan Ponder and Princeton Taylor of Whitewright, Texas; and Leo Forde of Sherman.
Arrangements were under the direction of Dannel Funeral Home, Sherman, Texas.
