Galveston - Mauryce Stacy Samford, 72, of Galveston, Texas died Monday night, December 19, 1994 at St. Mary's Hospital in Galveston, Texas.
Funeral services were held Wednesday morning, December 21, 1994 at the First Baptist Church of Galveston with Rev. S. Denton Bassett, Rev. Robert Holt and Dr. Bobby R. Smith officiating under the direction of Carnes Brothers Funeral Home.  Graveside services were held Thurrsday morning, December 22, 1994 at Cedarlawn Memorial Park in Sherman, Texas.
Mr. Samford was born December 11, 1922 in Denison, Texas.  After graduating from Denison High School and the University of Houston School of Architecture, he and his wife, Betty, moved to Galveston.  Mr. Samford began his career as an architect with the University of Texas Medical Branch over 38 years ago and retired from that position in 1988.  He was a member of the American Institute of Architecture and the American Society of Interior Designs.
He was a veteran of World War II in the U.S. Air Force, 27th Target Squadron.  He was a member of First Baptist Church in Galveston since 1951.  He served on the Deacon Council and taught in the Preschool Division of the Sunday School for many years.
He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Betty Rich Samford, of Galveston; their 3 sons, Gregg, Jeff and Todd; daughter-in-law, Jodie Samford and grandchildren, Andrew and Todd, II of Houston, Texas; Hollie Samford of Temple; and Bailie Samford of Denton; and many nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Kenneth Green, Charles Golden, Joe Land, John Parsley, Louis Ciaccio, and Lee Ballard.  Honorary
Pallbearers were members of the Deacon Council of First Baptist Church, Galveston, Texas, Dr. Fritz Zaunbracher and Dr. Kathryn Oschner.

Galveston, Texas - Betty June Samford, 79, died Monday, June 4, 2007 at John Sealy Hospital in Galveston.
Funeral serviceswere held Thursday morning, June 7, 2007 at First Baptist Church of Galveston, Texas with Dr. Ray Meador officiating and Dr. Grayson Glass assisting.  Burial was in Cedarlawn Memorial Park, Sherman, Texas on Friday morning, June 8, 2007.
Betty was born August 9, 1927, daughter of Lloyd G. and Mae Hall Rich in Denison, Texas.  She attended Denison public schools and graduated from Denison High School in 1944.  She was a preschool teacher at Temple Academy and Travis Academy from 1970 to 1982.  She then was employed by UTMB in the Physician Billing Services from 1982 until her retiriement in 1991.  She taught Sunday School to the 4-year-olds for 15 years and was a dedicated member of First Baptist Church of Galveston.
Preceded in death by her parents and husband, Betty is survived by sons, Greg Samford of Galveston; Jeff Samford and wife, Andrea, of Deer Park; and Todd Samford and wife, Jodi, of La Porte, Texas; grandchildren, Andrew Samford, Todd Samford II, Hollie Parker, Bailie Samford, Josh Behrmann, and Ryan Behrmann; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Memorials may be made in Betty's name to the Maurice Samford Preschool Fund at First Baptist Church, 822 23rd St., Galveston, Texas 77550. - - - Carnes Brothers Funeral Home
