Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Ellen Staley, 79, of Route 1, were held at Funderburk Funeral Home Tuesday, July 3, with Rev. Herman Crews, pastor of the Church of the Nazarene, in charge.  Burial was in Cedarlawn Memorial Park.  Pallbearers were T.E. Baker, C.E. Baker, G.D. Kerley, J.E. Stratton, Buster Kimberley, and C.L. Anderson.
Mrs. Staley died in a local hospital Saturday, June 30, after three months of illness.  A native of Tennessee, she was born February 12, 1877 and had lived in Denison 11 years.  Her parents were Mr. and Mrs. James Beaty.
Survivors are two sons, Lonza Staley, Denison; and Dewey Staley, Cincinnati, Ohio; three step-daughters, Mrs. Delcie Shoemake, California; Mrs. Nannie Braun, Galveston, Indiana; and Mrs. Irene Ring, Maricopa, Arizona; a brother, Evans Beaty, Jamestown, Tennessee; three sisters, Mrs. Erma Wright, Monterey, Tennessee; Mrs. Ada Bowman, Dayton, Ohio; and Mrs. Martha Stevens, New Castle, Indiana; 19 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
