Gearldine Stone, 86, of Sherman, ascended to her eternal home Wednesday, March 16, 2022 at Wilson N. Jones Medical Center following an extended illness.

Gearldine Stone entered the world on August 7, 1935 in Ladonia, Texas.  Throughout her life she held many roles.  She was the adored daughter of Clifton Miles and Flora Lane.  She would later blossom into a beautiful young woman and capture the heart of Johnny Stone, who she married on the 5th day of June, in the summer of 1955.  Soon after, she would hold the title of "Mother" and give birth to a little girl, naming her Alice in the spring of 1957.  Shortly after, she and Johnny would make another addition to their family with their son, Ronnie, in May of 1965.
Gearldine's impact did not stop at being a loving daughter, supportive wife and caring mother.  The same passion and belief that fueled her love for her family also blessed her with a desire to love and serve the Lord.  She found a church home at Daniel Gray CME, where she helped pave a foundation of how family, faith, community and service should resemble in the church.  She was a proud member of the women's choir, while holding other positions such as stewardess, treasurer, Sunday School teacher, and Vacation Bible School instructor.
Both cooking and baking was something that Gearldine loved to spend time doing as well.  She not only enjoyed preparing meals for her family but also anyone she may have been surrounded by. Surprising neighbors with a sweet potato pie during Thanksgiving or including loafs of pumpkin bread when delivering gifts on Christmas Eve.  She was an example of how someone may not have much, but still can find a way to offer the best part of themselves to others.
Her love for her family, church and life were apparent to whoever she crossed paths with.  She touched the souls of, not only her family and friends, but those who she met in passing during the time she was granted here on earth.  Her smile and laugh were contagious, her hospitality genuine, and her faith unshaken.
She is survived by daughter, Alice Stone/Agulefo of Sherman, Texas; grandson, Ifeanyi Agulefo of Sherman, Texas; and many other relatives and friends.
The funeral service was held Friday morning, March 25th at Daniel House of Deliverance, Sherman, with Pastor Anthony Johnson officiating.   Burial followed at Cedarlawn Memorial Park.  Arrangements were entrusted to James E. Smith and the professionals of Waldo Funeral Home. - - - Waldo Funeral Home
