Joe Sparks went to be with his Lord on Saturday, February 4, 2017 after a long battle with stomach cancer, liver cancer and two fractures of his neck.   Joe's unconditional love, gentle spirit and endless patience were extraordinary.  When you were with him, he loved telling stories of his son and daughter growing up and his life and travels with his wife of 60 years, Ann Sparks.
Joe is survived by his wife, Ann; and his children: Steve Sparks and wife, Deneese, of Garland, Texas; and Beverly Ball and husband, Curtis Whitfield, of Bells, T exas.  He also leaves behind 4 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, brothers, Leon Sparks of Whitney, Texas, and Bob Sparks of Alvarado, Texas; and many other dear relatives and friends.
Joe was baptized into the Baptist faith at the age of 30 and served his Lord in many capacities throughout his life.  He attended the Baptist men's prayer breakfast, which led to relief work in Belize as well as community work.  He was also a long-standing member of the Masonic Lodge #117 of Sherman, Texas.
Services were held Wednesday afternoon, February 8, 2017 at Grayson Bible Church with Rev. Charles L. Hamilton officiating.  Burial followed at Cedarlawn Memorial Park in Sherman, Texas. - - - Bratcher Funeral Home
