SHERMAN - Imogene Potts Shaw, age 76 of Sherman, Texas went home to glory to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 29, 2015 at Texoma Medical Center.
She was born on August 2, 1938 in Denison, Texas, daughter of Randell and Ernestine Potts. She was a graduate of Terrell High School. Imogene also completed Grayson County College and received her Registered Nursing Degree. She worked in the community for many years.
Imogene accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior and was baptized under leadership of Pastor J C Huey of Mt. Zion Baptist Church. She never moved her membership with Mt. Zion Baptist Church. She did attend other churches such as Mt. Carmel, Pastor Henry Marine and Bethel Community, Pastor Michael Braxton.
Imogene was united in marriage to Sylvester Shaw Jr. in 1956. Many years later, after the death of Sylvester Shaw, she  was united in marriage to Daniel Braxton Jr.  
Imogene Shaw was blessed with 8 wonderful children. Imogene Shaw was also blessed with 19 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews and friends, left to cherish her memories. Surviving her are her sons, Deandra Shaw of Denison; Rev. Ronald Shaw of Sherman; daughters, Cassandra Wilson of Sherman; Tangela Shaw of Dallas, Texas; Rhonda (Jimmy) Brown of Denison; Sherrie Kay Shaw of Sherman; Dionne Michelle Braxton of Rochester, Minnesota; brother, Finus Ray Potts; sisters, Gertrude (Ezell) Morrison of Denison and Sellestine (Larry) Kimbrough of Abeline, Texas.
She is preceded in death by her father Randell Potts; Mother Ernestine Bell; son Gregory Kirk Shaw Sr.; brothers, Louis Potts, Harry Potts, Roy Lee Potts; granddaughter Tina Shaw; grandson, Derick LaMonte Wilson Sr.; and great-granddaughters Azalia Mill and Jamila Wilson.
Crowning celebration was held Saturday morning, February 7 at 11 a.m. at New Hope Christian Church Fellowship in Denison. Pastor Bishop Larry Goodman, and Rev Manuel Gardner officiated and burial followed at Cedarlawn Memorial Park in Sherman. Arrangements were under the direction of Serenity Chapel Funeral Services, in Sherman.
