Funeral services for Opal Barrett Silver were held Saturday, June 6th, at 2 p.m. at Waldo Funeral Home in Sherman, Texas. Burial followed at Cedarlawn Memorial Park in Sherman, Texas with Don Westbrook officiating. Pallbearers were Bob Boland, Vernon Krueger, Rick Green, Gary Tucker, Neil Sladecek and Bobby McDaniel.
Mrs. Silver, a 95 year-old California resident, died May 22, 2009. She died at her niece and caregiver's home, Linda Tucker Haller, in Beaumont, California. Linda had been caring for her for several months since Opal became unable to care for herself. 

Opal was born on April 26, 1914 in Oklahoma to the late Paul and Etta Barrett. She married Lewis Silver (Lee) in 1946 at the age of 32. They lived in Whitesboro, Texas and later moved to California. 
Opal is survived by many nieces and nephews.  including, Linda Tucker Haller, Brenda Tucker Camp, Kay Tucker Baker, Dean Tucker, all of California; Gary Tucker of Arizona; Jerry Tucker of California; Bobby McDaniel, Morris Junior McDaniel, and Jaquetta McDaniel Stanley, all of Callisburg, Texas; Beverly Barrett Green and Barbara Barrett Boland, both of Sherman, Becky Barrett Krueger of Corinth, Texas; and one sister-in-law, Jackie Barrett Holt of Gainesville, Texas. She also had numerous great nieces and nephews.
Opal was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Etta Barrett; step-mother, Mamie Barrett; husband, Lee Silver; brother, J.D. Barrett; and three sisters, Pearl McDaniel, Verda Weber and Lorene Tucker.
