A Celebration of life service for Betty L. Shaw was held at 9:00 AM on Friday, June 24, at Waldo Funeral Home chapel with Pastor Brian Taylor officiating. Interment followed at Cedarlawn Memorial Park with Danny Fuller, Bob Fair, Wendell Bockman, John David Shelley, Cory Burt and Terry Shelley serving as pallbearers.
Betty was born Thursday, December 1, 1938 in Ambrose, Texas to Decatur and Alice Shelley and passed from this life on Tuesday, June 21, 2016 in Sherman, Texas at the age of 77.
Betty grew up and attended schools in Randolph, Texas. She married the love of her life, David Shaw, on July 9, 1957 in Sherman.
Betty was employed at Community Hospital in the dietary department for ten years before making a career move at Kmart for thirty-two years until their store closing. At Kmart she worked as a supervisor at the service desk and enjoyed meeting new people on a daily basis.
Betty’s love was taking care of David and all the grandkids. Her grandkids called her ‘Nana’ and the love bestowed on each of them was her fulfillment. She will be forever loved and missed.
Betty is survived by her husband David, son David Lynn and his wife Paula, and daughter Sharon Henry and her husband Otis all of Sherman; grandchildren Michael Shaw and his wife Patti, Melissa Shaw, Makayla Shaw, Sparky Henry, Kenny Henry and Amanda Jackson; great grandchildren Gianna, Isabelle, Landon, Avery, Cory and Kayla; siblings Johnny Shelley, Shirley Webb and her husband Sid, Barbara Tingle and Dorothy Rigsby; sisters-in-law Connie Beale and Doris McKinney and her husband Elwood; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings Preston Shelley, Jean Force, Robert Shelley, Joe Shelley and Jean Howery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Forest Avenue Baptist Church Building Fund 106 W. Forest Ave. Sherman, TX 75090. ~ ~ ~ Waldo Funeral Home
