J.D. Reatherford, retired building contractor, died Sunday, October 11, 2009 at Texoma Specialty Care Center in Denison at the age of 91 1/2 years old. 
Services were held Wednesday afternoon, October 14, 2009 in the Waldo Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Jason Anderson, pastor of Trinity Baptist Church in Sherman, officiated and the burial followed at Cedarlawn Memorial Park. 
J.D. was born April 1, 1918 in the Dixie community north of Whitesboro, son of Maggie and A.C. Reatherford. He attended school in Prosper and Vineygrove and married Kathryn Maxwell on December 22, 1938 in McKinney. They celebrated 70 years of marriage in 2008. He was a home builder in Sherman for 40 years and was past president of the Home Builders Association. He also built numerous business buildings in the area, such as the sanctuary at Trinity Baptist Church where he was a member for several years. 
J.D. and Kathryn loved to fish and travel and spent many hours on Lake Texoma. He was an active member of Trinity Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and taught Sunday school for many years. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. 
He is survived by his wife Kathryn, a resident of Texoma Specialty Care Center in Denison; son, Charles Reatherford of Florida; daughter, Joyce Givens and husband, Mike, of Denison; 5 grandchildren, Leslie and Art Butterworth of Denison; James and Stacey Reatherford of Florida; Roger and Janet Robertson of Sadler; Marsha and Jason Phillips of Sadler; and Charles Reatherford Jr. of Arizona; also survived by 9 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, David Reatherford; brothers, Jack Reatherford and Doris Reatherford; and sisters, Etta Mae Commons and Noka Lee Cody.



Services for Kathryn Reatherford, 92, of Denison were held Friday morning, August 12, 2011 at Waldo Funeral Home. Mrs. Reatherford passed away August 7, 2011 at Texoma Specialty Care Center. Rev. Jason Anderson of Trinity Baptist Church  officiated. Pallbearers were her grandsons and great-grandchildren. Burial followed at Cedarlawn Memorial Park. Waldo Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Kathryn was born October 30, 1918 in Van Alstyne, Texas, daughter of William Thomas and Lydia Ellen Stroud Maxwell. She was a graduate of Viney Grove High School and a longtime member of Trinity Baptist Church. She married J.D. Reatherford in McKinney on December 22, 1938. They celebrated 70 years of marriage before he passed away in 2009.
She is survived by her son, Charles Reatherford of Florida; daughter Joyce Givens and husband, Mike, of Denison; grandchildren, Charles Reatherford, Jr.; James and Stacey Reatherford; Leslie and Art Butterworth; Roger and Janet Robertson; and Marsha and Jason Phillips; great-grandchildren Dillion, Dalton and Delaney Butterworth; Jasmine Reatherford; Lucas, Natalie and Seth Robertson; and Jake and Karlee Phillips; brother Odell Maxwell of Kerrville, Texas; sisters. Bessie Wingo of Ennis, Texas and Imogene Gideon of Mansfield, Texas; sisters-in-law, Nyla Maxwell and Tiny Reatherford, both of Sherman; and Esther Reatherford of Luella.
Kathryn was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, David Reatherford' brothers Isaac Maxwell, Walter Maxwell, J.W. Maxwell and Albert Maxwell.
