Sherman - Funeral services for Bruce Maynard Robinson, 88, of Sherman were held Wednesday morning, October 8, 2008 at the Waldo Funeral Home Chapel.  Burial followed at Cedarlawn Memorial Park in Sherman.  Arrangements were under the direction of Waldo Funeral Home.
Bruce passed away Friday, October 3, 2008 at his residence in Sherman.
He was born in Prosper on June 22, 1920, son of Elbert and Harriet Elizabeth Maynard Robinson.  Following his graduation from Prosper High School, Bruce joined and served in the U.S. Army Air Force from October 1941 to September 1945.   He married Lee Handman on March 15, 1945 in London, England.  They were married more than 50 years when she preceded him in death on January 2, 2000.
Bruce was a lifelong member of the VFW Post 2772 and the American Radio Relay League as a ham radio operator.  He was a master Mason at the Andrew Randell Lodge for more than 50 years and a longtime member of the Trinity Presbyterian Church.  Bruce started working at the Sherman Democrat newspaper in 1950.  He worked as a foreman in the composing room until his retirement in 1989.
He is survived by his daughter, Linda Robinson Dietart of Dallas; son, David Robinson and wife, Sarah, of Redmond, Washington; 3 grandchildren, Erik Dietart of Bunkie, Louisiana; Tyler Robinson and wife, Sarah Fillion of Nashua, New Hampshire; and Dana Beahm and husband, Ken, of Woodinville, Washington; and one great-grandson, Vancouver Austin Beahm.  He is also survived by 2 sisters, Dorothy Van Bevers of Grand Prairie and Lona Biggs of Mesquite; brother, John Robinson and wife, Margaret, of Irving, Texas; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Bruce was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and brother, Ross Robinson.
