Graveside services for Billy Joe Rodgers, 80, of Denison were held January 3, 2009, at Cedarlawn Memorial Park in Sherman. Dr. Chet Haney officiated.
Mr. Rodgers died December 30, 2008, at Texoma Medical Center.
He was born March 8, 1928, in the Desert community to Myrtle and Joe Rodgers. Mr. Rodgers grew up on a farm in Farmersville and graduated from FHS in 1945. 
He later worked for Western Electric, Greenville Telephone Company and retired from Southwestern Bell Telephone with 38 years of service. He was enlisted in the United Stated Army in 1946 and served in the reserves until 1951.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Bobbie Rodgers; son Col. Rick Rodgers and wife Linda of University Place, Wash. and Kim Rodgers of Denison; brother Bobby Rodgers and wife Addie of Farmersville; sister Oneta Holt of Saginaw; sister-in-laws Iva Rodgers of Luray, Virginia, and Virginia Copley of Denison; along with seven grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Leslie Earl; and brother-in-laws, Burr Holt and Jim Copley.
Services were under the direction of Bratcher Funeral Home in Denison.
