Denison – Wally, C. W. Rasco, age 92, passed from this life on Feburary 20, 2014 in Denison, Texas.
Services will be held at 11:00 am on February 25, 2014 at Park Avenue Church of Christ. Todd Catteau and Charles Kuhn will officiate, with Basil McClure leading the singing. Burial will follow at Cedarlawn Memorial Park in Sherman.
Wally was born March 5, 1921 in Gunter, Texas, the son of William Walter and Bena Block Rasco. He attended school in Gunter and worked on the farm until 1941 when he moved to Denison to work with the U.S. Engineers when the Denison Dam was being built. He married Louise Porter on January 14, 1944. He worked for Peterson Hardware for 20 years and then Cole Lumber Co. as hardware buyer for 20 years, retiring in 1987.
Wally became a member of Armstrong Avenue Church of Christ in 1963, which later became Park Avenue Church of
Christ. He served as usher for about 40 years. When Park Avenue was built, he and Claude Woodley landscaped the lawn, planting all the trees, shrubs and flowers and they took care of the lawn for 10 years.
Wally’s parents, one sister and three brothers preceded him in death. Louise, his wife of 70 years, survives him.
Pallbearers will be Rudy Dockray, Roy Galyon, Bill Heironimus, Calvin Hiett, Phil Landrum, Clem Martin, Harold Dean
Porter and Galen Smith.
Honorary pallbearers will be Stanley Ballou, Buddy Holland and Jerry Spradling.
