Pierson 1926 - 1990   Carl Ulysses Pierson 7 May 1926 - 14 September 1990 OMC US Navy WWII, Korea  Sherman - Guana Russell Pierson, 89, slipped peacefully into the arms of Jesus on Wednesday, June 15, 2017 at Nanaw's Place in Denison, Texas. Guana was born October 7, 1927 in Van Alstyne, Texas, daughter of A.F. "Stump" Russell and Mary Grissom Russell. She graduated from Van Alstyne High School. She married Carl U. Pierson on August 25, 1946, who was the son of W.M. Pierson and Lettie Bell Pierson. Funeral services were held Monday morning, June 19, 2017 with Mike Russell officiating. Burial followed at Cedarlawn Memorial Park, Sherman, Texas. Guana was a Navy wife of 30 years, traveling the United States with her husband and family. She enjoyed going shopping, cooking, baking, watching soap operas, and supporting her Texas Rangers. She was an animal lover. She is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Becker and husband, Tom, of Tom Bean; sons, Ronnie Pierson and Jeffery, both of Sherman; grandchildren: Lori Jones and husband, Brian, of Whitewright; Robert Becker and wife, Monica, of Denison; brother, Jack Russell and wife, Doris, of Grand Prairie; sister, Frances Rutledge and husband, Obie, of Bells; grandchildren: Payton, Austin, Jacie, Kelan, Eden, Carlyn; brother-in-law, Lyndal Pierson and wife, Betty, of Garland; and several nieces and nephews. Guana was preceded in death by her husband; brothers, D. Rudolph Russell; Birt Russell; and Joe R. Russell; and grandson, Carl Alan Pierson. Pallbearers were her nephews: Mickey Pierson, Paul Pierson, Joel Russell, Jory Russell, David Russell, and Duane Russell.
