Funeral services for Thomas Anthony Pettit were held Thursday, December 27, 2007 at Fairview Baptist Church, Sherman; Dr. Patrick Mead of the church officiated.  Burial followed at Cedarlawn Memorial Park with Ricky Fountain, Ed Potts, Chad Rolen, Ronnie Johnson, Jimmy Byrum, and John Fisher serving as pallbearers. Waldo Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Pettit passed away Saturday, December 22, 2007 at Texoma Medical Center, Denison from injuried received in an accident while cutting firewood.  He was 44 years old.
Thomas was born in Sherman on April 10, 1963 to Thomas L. and Betty Meek Pettit.  He graduated from Howe High School in 1981 and worked as an Account Rep for the Coca Cola Company.
On November 8, 1993, he married Debbie DeHart in Ashdown, Arkansas.
Thomas enjoyed kids and spent much of his time doing volunteer work.  He was a former board member of Sherman Youth Baseball and Softball Association, and he had served as the President of Sherman Youth Softball for many years.  He was of the Baptist faith.
Thomas is survived by his wife of Sherman; sons, Paul Anthony Pettit and Michael Colby Pettit, both of Waxahachie, Texas; Timothy Brandon Witt of Sherman; daughter, Jessica Brooke Pettit of Sherman; sisters, Rebecca Fountain and husband, LeRoy, of Howe and Sandra Eriksen and husband, Brian, of Sherman; brother, Brian Pettit of Sherman; granddaughter, Mikayla Grace Pettit; and numerous nieces and nephews.
His parents preceded him in death.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Sherman Youth Baseball/Softball Association, PMB 111, 220 C-7 Sunset Blvd., Sherman, Texas 75092
