Bernice Newcomb, 97, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, November 26, 2012 at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital in Denton, Texas.
Mrs. Newcomb was born November 2, 1914 in Sherman, daughter of Lawrence and Nannie Cruse Proffitt.  She married Donald P. Newcomb in Durant, Oklahoma.  She was the chief water department clerk for the City of Denison for 29 years before retiring.  She was residing at Lake Forest Good Samaratin in Denton, where she lived independently until her passing.  Bernice had been a member of Faith Fellowship Baptist Church in Denison, Texas.
Mrs. Newcomb is survived by daughters, Carol Taylor of Richardson, Texas and RosAnn Reynolds and husband, Larry, of Pottsboro, Texas; sisters, Betty Harvey of Sherman and Wanda Melton of Norman, Oklahoma; grandsons, Mark Taylor and wife, Teresa, of Sachse, Texas and Gary Taylor and wife, Marcee, of Ridgewood, New Jersey; granddaughters, Nancy LeFleur of Denton, Texas and Amy Edney of Fuquay Varina, North Carolina; great-grandchildren, Katie Kane, Jessica Kane, Etienne LeFleur, Caroline Taylor, William Taylor, Madeline Taylor, Cory Edney, Matthew Edney, Andrew Edney and Samuel Edney; and great-great-grandson, Caidyn Kane.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son-in-law, Richard Taylor; great-grandson, Edouard LeFleur, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Monday, October 29, 2012 at Fisher Funeral Chapel with Chaplain Karen DeFlippis officiating.  Private interment was held in Cedarlawn Memorial Park in Sherman.
