Sherman - Ernest Harvey Meredeith, 91, of Sherman, passed away Thursday, November 13, 2014 at his home, completing his courageous 5 year battle with congestive heart failure.
Funeral services were scheduled for Monday morning, November 17, 2014 at Dannel Funeral Chapel.  Rev. Rob Sheppard of East Sherman Baptist Church officiated.  Interment followed immediately after the conclusion of the service in Cedarlawn Memorial Park.
Ernest was born November 29, 1922 in Sherman, Texas, son of Marvin F. and Effie Lee Moore Meredeith.  He married Fredna Lara Owen on July 9, 1942.  They enjoyed 62 years together before Fredna was called to her heavenly home September 17, 2005.  They were blessed with one son, Freddie Joe Meredeith.  Together, they devoted over 25 years of volunteer service at Bonham VA  Hospital.
Ernest later married Norma McClure.  She was at his side when God said it was time for him to come home.
Ernest was a man of many talents.  He was a radio and television repairman, having owned his own shop at one time.  He learned carpentry from his father.  He was a ham radio operator for 55 years.  In the early years, he worked in the yard and garden.  He loved to see things grow and loved to give vegetables away to friends and family.  He retired from CableCom, which later became CableOne.  He helped in the placement of the towers and the fine-tuning of the microwave signals that make the pictures as we see them today.
Ernest is survived by his wife, Norma; son, Freddie Joe Meredeith and wife, Susan, of Sanger, Texas; step-children, Leah Raines of Pottsboro; Mark Raines and caregiver, Beverly Ellis, of Denison, Texas; Forrest Raines and wife, Shannon, of McKinney, Texas; grandchildren, Ryan Meredeith and Michael Meredeith, of Sanger, Texas; sister, Mattie Mae Mitrovich, of Redding, California; brothers, Virgil Wall and wife, Adela, of McKinney, Texas; and Glenn Wall and wife, Diane, of New Hampshire; niece, Donna Leistinger and husband, Lynn, of Redding, California; nephew, Steven Mitrovich and wife, Justine; step-grandchildren, Michael and Jordan Raines of McKinney; and Jeremy Raines and wife, Kia, of Bells; and many nieces and nephews of the Owen family.
Serving as pallbearers were Jessie Owen; Rickey Owen; Robert Owen; Nik Owen; Carson Owen; Harlan Owen; Rodger Bateman.
Honorary pallbearers were Ryan Meredieth and Michael Meredieth.
In lieu of flowers, Ernest would have wanted memorial donations sent to East Sherman Baptist Church.
Arrangements were under the direction of Dannel Funeral Home.
