Melton McDaniel, a 76 year old resident of Holly Lake Ranch, Texas, passed away Monday, March 23, 2009 at his residence. 
He was born February 28, 1933 in Swainsboro, Georgia, son of Earnest Lee McDaniel and Annie Lee Coleman McDaniel.  Funeral services were held Thursday morning, March 26, 2009 at the United Methodist Church of Howe under the direction of Flesher Funeral Home.  Rev. Larry Bloskas officiated.  Burial followed at Cedar Lawn Cemetery in Sherman. 
Melton married Kathryn Bloskas March 31, 1957 in Waco, Texas.  He and his brother Melvin owned Mac's Tax and Bookkeeping in Sherman for 20 years.  Melton retired from the U.S. Air Force after serving twenty years.  He also worked for Burling Industries for 12 years. 
He is preceded in death by one brother, Billy McDaniel. 
He is survived by his wife, Kathryn McDaniel, of Holly Lake Ranch, Texas; 2 daughters, Charlotte Flaker & husband Richard of Sherman, Texas; and Terri Landes and husband Charles of Howe, Texas; 3 granddaughters, Ashley, Megan and Whitney Landes all of Howe, Texas; 3 brothers, Melvin McDaniel of Denison, Texas; Jimmy McDaniel and Johnny McDaniel, both of Swainsboro, Georgia; one sister, Annette Evans also of Swainsboro, Georgia. 
In lieu of flowers send donations to the First United Methodist Church of Hawkins, The First Methodist Church of Howe, or to any charity of your choice. 
Pallbearers were Dean Lewis, Ronnie Bloskas, Kenny Bloskas, Steve McDaniel, Brandon Jennings, and Steve Palmer.  Honorary pallbearers were John Bloskas, Jr., Dickie Ferguson and Brent Fails. - - - - Flesher Funeral Home




Funeral services for Kay McDaniel were held Friday morning, January 8, 2021 at Scoggins Funeral Home in Van Alstyne, Texas.  Mrs. McDaniel, 82, passed away Sunday, January 3, 2021 from her long struggle with cancer.  She fought her illness with courage and dignity.  Pastor Zack Landis of The First United Methodist Church of Howe officiated.  Burial followed in Cedarlawn Memorial Park with Charles Landes, Stan Francis, Andrew Nawrocki, J.R. Neans, Archie Sutton and Paul Wheeler serving as pallbearers.
Kay was born July 24, 1938 in Waco, Texas, daughter of George and Elvina Bloskas.  She married Melton McDaniel on March 31, 1957 in Waco, Texas.  They were married one week shy of 52 years when he passed away on March 23, 2009.  Kay worked at Texas Instruments in Sherman and as a Secretary at Howe Middle School for many years, making a lot of unofficial new children her own.  When Kay and Melton retired, they moved to Holly Lake Ranch in east Texas and enjoyed their life playing golf almost daily and making wonderful new friends.  Kay loved to travel, cruising was her favorite, and continued to do so until she was too sick to make another trip.  Other than golf, she loved playing games with her many friends, Mah Jongg, cards and dominos and was still playing until Covid took that away.
Mrs. McDaniel is survived by two daughters, Charlotte McDaniel of Sherman; and Terri Landes and husband, Charles, of Howe; three granddaughters, Ashley Landes of Howe, Texas; Megan Marshall of Bonham, Texas; and Whitney Wheeler and husband, Paul, of Blanchard, Louisiana; four great-grandchildren, Jake, Logan, Maggie and Ansley. Brother Jimmy Bloskas of Waco, Texas; brother-in-law, Melvin McDaniel, of Denison; sister-in-law, Annette Evans of Swainsboro, Georgia; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one sister; and three brothers.
