Denison - Billy Arthur Miller, 85, passed away Saturday, August 4, 2012 at Texoma Medical Center in Denison, Texas.
Funeral servies were held Wednesday morning, August 8, 2012 at Bratcher Funeral Chapel.  Officiating were Basil McClure.  Burial followed in Cedarlawn Memorial Park, Chapel of Memories Mausoleum, Sherman, Texas.
Pallbearers were Brandon Jones, Ryan Martin, Jimmy Russell, Greg Johnson, Pat Horton, Ray Wyskup, Steve Bryant and Roy Brach.  Honorary pallbearers were Carl Raines, Floyd Smith, Wally Rasco and George Marrow.
Billy was born September 30, 1926, son of A.G. and Ouida Yelverton Miller in Denison, Texas.  He graduated from Denison High School in 1943 and began his career with MKT Railroad in 1942 as a caller, working nights and attending school during the day.  In 1944 he left for the U.S. Merchant Marine services in the South Pacific and traveling in various foreign counties.  In latter 1946 he returned from the service to continue his railroad career as Chief Caller-Clerk.
In 1958 he was appointed assistant Trainmaster to Parsons, Kansas, returning to Denison and was appointed Trainmaster in 1960.  In 1963 he was appointed coordinators service-equipment.  In 1966 he was promoted to Superintendent of Transportation.  In 1988 he retired as manager of Sales and Service, completing 47-1/2 years with MKT Railroad.
Billy was a member of the Elks Lodge, and Billie Mosse Lodge #1152, recognized for 50 years of service in July 1997.  He was of the Baptist faith.  He married Daisy Irene Mitchell on November 23, 1951 in Denison, Texas.  They had 2 sons, Michael and Terry Miller.
He is survived by his wife; sons, Michael and wife, Susi, of Lufkin, Texas; and Terry and wife, Debra, of Omaha, Nebraska; grandchildren, Kerry and husband, Brandon Jones, of Lufkin, Texas; Michael Sterling of New York; Amy and husband, Ryan Martin, of Baytown.
He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Mary Land; and nephew, Donald Land.
