Hazel Gladys Mercer, born August 9, 1901, was the third oldest daughter and 8th child born to William Leroy Shero and Ellen Rickard Shero in Sherman, Texas.  She was a student, aged 8 years, residing at home, 226 W. Houston, in 1910.  She first worked for a candy factory at 223 W. Houston, then as a clerk in a millinery shop on N. Travis Street.   She later worked as an agent for Continental Trailway Busline office at 210 E. Houston.
She died February 13, 1968, aged 64 years.  She is buried at Cedarlawn Memorial Park, Sherman, Texas, alongside her second husband, Jack Daniel Mercer.
