Savoy -  Fred David Masterson, 78-year-old Savoy resident, died Tuesday, October 17, 2006 at Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas, Texas.
Services were held Friday morning, October 20, 2006 at Mullican-Little Funeral Chapel in Bells/Savoy with Deacon Joe Cullen officiating.  Burial followed at Cedarlawn Memorial Park with full military honors conducted at the cemetery.
Mr. Masterson was born April 27, 1928 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, son of Roy and Nellie Collins Masterson.  In January 1949 he married Lois Barrientez in Sherman, Texas.
Fred served in the U.S. Air Force for 23 years, serving in the Vietnam War.  After retiring from the, military he worked for TXU Energy at the Valley Plant in Savoy, retiring from there, then working for the Sherman Independent School System District.
Fred also had many part-time jobs such as mowing yards.  He was of the Presbyterian faith.
Pallbearers were Gary Russell, Maurice Reinsch, Jeff Murray, Kirk Watson, Stephen Masterson, and Joey Juarez.  Honorary pallbearers were Chris Reinsch and Donald Murray.
Surviving are his wife of Savoy; sons, Wayne Gordon Masterson and Ronald Gene Masterson, both of Savoy; Carl Masterson of Florida and Bobby Masterson of Chicago, Illinois; grandchildren: Sondra, Stacye, Mandy, Elisha, Shannon, Brandi, and Stephen; and 6 great-grandchildren.
