Wanda Irene Means was born to Roger and Candeas (Grider) Olds on October 21, 1920 in the Van Alstyne community and left her earthly home on Tuesday, September 20, 2011 at the age of 90 while a resident of the Homestead of Sherman.

She married C.J. Means June 7,1941. Their union lasted 55 years until his death in 1996.
Services were held Friday, September 23, 2011 at 10 a.m., in the chapel of Dannel Funeral Home. Family visitation was held on Thursday evening September 22, 2011 from 6 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. at Dannel Funeral Home. Dr. Thomas R. Peel of First United Methodist Church will officiate. Interment will follow at Cedarlawn Memorial Park.
Irene was a dedicated member of First United Methodist Church. She served in many positions within the church with her main concentration being Children's Christian Education. She was always there to help in any way she could with church activities from sewing to baking, working with bazaars and in the after school mentoring program. Irene also helped the poor and needy by giving her time to the Green House at Key Memorial United Methodist Church. She was so sad when failing health prevented her from taking part and attending church services. Throughout the years she also served at churches in the Oklahoma City area while a resident there and Key Memorial United Methodist Church in Sherman. Irene was a woman of great faith and a forgiving heart and always believed that there was something good in everyone. 
Irene is survived by one brother, Dudley Olds and wife Christine of Denison; brother-in-law Ray Dodson of Denison; daughter-in-law Pat Means of Sherman; three granddaughters, Judy Means of Mineola, Sherry Chadwick of Dallas and Kayren Banks and husband Michael Banks Sr. of Ft. Worth; three great-grandsons, Austin Chadwick of Frisco, Michael Banks Jr., and Noah Banks of Ft.Worth. She is also survived several nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband C.J. Means, sons Jerry Roger and Gary Ronald and daughter Diana Lashley; 3 sisters, Lorelle Dodson, Billie Jo Morris and Eloise Taylor.
Pallbearers were Michael Hunt, Donnie James, Alan Chadwick, Austin Chadwick, Doug Olds, Keith Dodson.
The family wishes to thank the Homestead of Sherman and Heart to Heart Hospice for their love and care of Irene.
Memorials can be made to First United Methodist Church of Sherman or the donor's favorite charity .
