SHERMAN - Graveside services for Paul G. Lane, 74, of Sherman, who died Monday. December 30, 2002, were held on Thursday, January 2, 2003, at 11:00 a.m. at Cedarlawn Memorial Park. Dr. Mike Lawson, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Sherman, officiated. Dannel Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements. 
Paul was born on January 17, 1928, the son of Julius David Lane and Florence (Markham) Lane. He married Norma Barrington on September 3, 1950, in Sherman. Paul was a Sherman High School graduate of 1945. He played football during his high school years on the Bearcat team. After serving in the Navy he graduated from North Texas State University in 1949 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in biology. He was involved in many businesses including trucking, farming. ranching, real estate and construction beginning with Lane Oil Company in 1962. In 1979, he was a founding owner of TLT Construction Company.
Paul was a member of the First Baptist Church of Sherman for 40 years and was presently a member of the co-ed Sunday School Class. Paul served on the following boards: Sherman Housing Authority, Grayson County State Bank, First National Bank of Bells and Sherman Noon Lions. He was associated with the formation of SEDCO. Paul was president of the Sherman High School Bearcat Booster Club in the 1970's and he was active in the Sherman Youth Baseball League during the 1960's. He was a thirty-second degree Mason.
Paul took special pride in his family, wife, children, grandchildren and always followed the Bearcats. He had a special love for ranching.
Paul is survived by his wife, Norma Lane of Sherman; sons, Paul David Lane and wife Kelly of Sherman; Ted Edward Lane and wife; Janie of Sherman; daughter, Lisa Thornhill and husband; Gary of Sherman; sister, Frances Lane Wyatt and husband Joe of Houston TX; sister-in-law, Jackie Lane of San Diego, CA; grandchildren, Monica and Paul Jackson of Dallas; Garrett Thornhill; Ben Lane; Harlan Lane and Roxanne Lane all of Sherman.
If desired, memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church General Fund 400 S. Travis, Sherman, Texas 75090.
Dannel Funeral Home will be in charge of all arrangements.
